John has over 36 years of post-qualification accounting and audit experience, including providing attest and consulting services to public and privately held companies. These companies range in size from startups to hundreds of millions in revenue. He is the founder of UHY-Bain & Associates (UHY-BA) and has served in many client-facing management and leadership roles. He works closely with his clients as a quality resource, coordinating the services of UHY-BA to deliver timely and proactive advice. John’s experience includes five years with a Big Four firm and four years with a second-tier firm. John has considerable financial services experience, including serving as a CFO of two substantial publicly traded financial services institutions. He also recently served as the CFO of a gaming regulator. He served as CFO for two publicly traded banking institutions in The Bahamas. He was the business development Partner and served as a Board member in both public institutions and a not-for-profit charity. John is an Adjunct Advanced and Accounting Information Systems professor at the University of The Bahamas. After the merger with HLB Galanis, he is now the Partner, Advisory, with HLB Bahamas.
John is a UK and USA-trained professional. He specializes in forensic accounting, fraud investigations, information security audits, business valuations, economic losses, bankruptcy and insolvencies, receivership, and liquidations.
John previously represented the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the International Assembly for the Caribbean and the Americas. He is the past audit chair for the Water & Sewerage Corporation and the Ranfurly Homes for Children. He holds a Ph.D. from Northcentral University in Business Administration with a specialization in Computers and Information Security. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a Certified Information Systems Auditor, and a Certified Forensic Accountant.
